Chiang Dao Caves
The caves at Chiang Dao to the north of Chiang Mai go into Doi Chiang Dao and can be entered with a local guide.
Dara Pirom Palace Museum
Located in the Dara Rasamee Border Patrol Police Camp in Mae Rim District in Chiangmai Province The Dara Pirom Palace was built after King Vajiravudh (or Rama VI) gave the petition to Jao Dara Rasamee to return to her childhood home city of Chiangmai after King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) passed away.
The Dara Pirom Palace has been restored it to its former splendour and the gardens have been recreated to restore the atmosphere of the original palace gardens. Some 270 pieces of furniture, decorative items, and personal effects of the Princess are now on display showing the typical palace decor at the time of her life.
Doi Inthanon National Park
The Park contains Thailand's highest mountain at 2,565 metres. The Wachirathan, Siriphum and Mae Pan waterfalls share the mountain with Meo and Karen hill tribe settlements.
The park itself lies 90 minutes' drive southwest of Chiang Mai. Tale Highway 108 to Chom Thong, turn right onto Highway 1009 which is shortly before you reach Chom Thong from there head to the first checkpoint for Doi Inthanon National Park which is about 8km where you pay the park admission fees. Just after the checkpoint is the Tourist Information Centre and a further 31 km along is the National Park Headquarters with an attached restaurant. There is limited accommodation that needs to be reserved with the rangers by calling 053 268 550.
You can drive all the way to the top, where stately chedis have been erected in honour of the present King and Queen of Thailand. The climate up at the top is almost alpine and cool at all times of the year, with sub-zero (Celsius) temperatures in winter.
Halfway up is Wachiratan waterfall which plunges over a 40m drop and cascades down through water pools. By the ranger station is the Royal Project, which is a centre for the development of highland agriculture alternatives. Visitors can stroll around flower gardens and learn about the agricultural development activities as an alternative to poppy cultivation. Up the road from the ranger station is a Hmong market, which sells produce from the Royal Project and Hmong villages around Mae Chaem.
Other attractions include the Mae Ya Waterfall, the Mae Klang Waterfall and the Borrijinda Cave.

Doi Pha Hom Pok
The second highest mountain in Thailand at 2,285 metres. To reach the mountain travel along Highway 107 towards Fang for 150km. Then head towards Baan Pa Sang where you turn left to Mae Sae River Source Division. The walk to the summit is 8km and you will be rewarded with a large open summit with plenty of cooling breezes.
Lamphun
Lumphun, is an old city founded in 660 and 26 km south of Chiang Mai. Wat phra That Hariphunchai is an impressive temple and is thought that the chedi has a hair of the Buddha.
San Kamphaeng Hot Springs
36 kms from Chiang Mai are the hot springs surrounded by hills. Ob Luang Gorge
This picturesque gorge is 88 kilometres from Chiang Mai provincial capital, and is framed by teak forests and mountains.
